Frequently Asked questions
How many people can the boat hold?
Each boat has a strict maximum capacity of 12 passengers or 1,678 lbs total weight, whichever is reached first, regardless of age or size.
How many boats do you have available?
We have two brand-new 2026 22′ Maholo Tritoons available to rent.
How much does it cost to rent a boat?
Rentals start at $350. You can choose a half-day or full-day rental when you book online.
What are your rental times?
Half-day rentals run 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Full-day rentals run 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Rentals begin exactly at the time listed on your reservation, so arriving late will shorten your time on the water.
Is fuel included in the price?
Yes. The first 10 gallons of fuel are included in the rental price at no extra charge. All boats depart with a full tank and are refueled by staff upon return. The renter is responsible for the cost of any additional fuel used during the rental and will be charged the difference upon return.
Is there a late fee if I return the boat late?
Yes. If the boat is returned later than the agreed return time, a late fee of $50 is charged for every 15 minutes the boat is overdue.
What is your cancellation policy?
Reservations may be cancelled for a refund up to 7 days before the start of your trip. Cancellations made within 7 days of your trip are non-refundable unless Trip Protection was purchased at the time of booking. With Trip Protection, you may cancel, reschedule, or convert your reservation to a gift card up until 2:30 PM the day before your scheduled trip; Trip Protection fees and any related processing fees are non-refundable. All cancellation requests must be submitted by email to naturecoastboatrental@gmail.com or confirmed by phone with a team member at (352) 601-7184. Voicemails and text messages are not accepted as cancellation requests.
What happens if something is damaged during my rental?
Renters are responsible for any damage to the boat or equipment during the rental period. Damage Protection is available and highly recommended to help cover accidental damage. A schedule of repair and replacement charges applies for items that are damaged, lost, or returned in poor condition. You can preview or download our full Repair & Replacement Cost Schedule below.
Do I need a boating license to operate the boat?
Florida law requires anyone born on or after January 1, 1988 to have a valid Florida Boating Safety Education ID Card to operate the boat. You can earn a permanent lifetime certificate here: Florida Lifetime Boater Certificate. If you need it sooner, you can complete a temporary certificate here: Florida Temporary Boater Certificate.
Do I need to sign a waiver?
Yes. All guests must complete a digital waiver before boarding. Minors must have a parent or legal guardian present to sign their waiver.
Where am I allowed to take the boat?
You are free to explore Kings Bay, Crystal River’s freshwater springs, and the Gulf of Mexico. Please note that you may not use the Salt River to access the Gulf. Gulf trips are great for scalloping but will likely use more than the included 10 gallons of fuel.
What is included with my rental?
Every rental includes the 22′ Maholo Tritoon, plush seating for up to 12 passengers, the first 10 gallons of fuel, all required USCG safety gear, life jackets, and a diver-down flag. Each boat is also equipped with a Yamaha engine, Garmin electronics, and a Bluetooth-enabled radio and speakers.
Are life jackets provided?
Yes. We provide life jackets in Child (under 50 lbs), Youth (50 to 90 lbs), and Adult (over 90 lbs) sizes. Please note that we do not carry infant-sized life jackets.
Can I go scalloping?
Yes. Our boats are permitted in the Gulf of Mexico, making them a great option during scallop season. Renters are responsible for obtaining their own Florida saltwater fishing and scalloping licenses. Bring a mask, fins, and snorkel, and keep in mind that Gulf trips use more fuel.
Do you rent snorkel gear or wetsuits?
Yes. Mask, fin, and snorkel sets are available in adult and youth sizes for $15. Wetsuit rentals (3 mm) are available from toddler size 3 through men’s 5XL for $10.
Can I add a cooler with ice?
Yes. Coolers with ice are available as an optional add-on at checkout.
What should I bring with me?
Bring a charged cell phone, reef-safe sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, a hat, food and drinks, towels, and swimwear. Bring mask and snorkel gear if you plan to swim or scallop, and bring proof of boater safety certification if required.
